YouthLaw’s governance function is performed by our voluntary Board which is elected at our Annual General Meeting. Our Board for 2015-16 comprises:

We’re always looking for new recruits who want to help support our work through governance and strategic direction. It is important that our governance group is representative of our community and includes people with a wide range of skills and interests that can benefit our organisation. We particularly encourage applicants from the following sectors and groups:

  • Youth work / social work / counselling
  • Education
  • Health
  • Disability
  • Refugee / migrant services
  • Community development
  • Human rights and NGOs
  • Academic and research communities
  • Central and local government
  • Maori, Pasifika, ethnic minorities, and especially young people.

We’d also like to hear from you if you have specific skills or experience in the following areas:

  • Governance generally
  • Policy development
  • Strategic planning and direction
  • Communication and negotiation
  • Human resources

Our Board currently meets at our office in Papatoetoe once a month for around two hours. If you have an interest in children and young people’s rights or community development and you can contribute your time we’d love to hear from you, particularly if you’re under 25.
