The act cover major purchases such as cars etc with written contracts.
Is there provision for the purchaser of your biggest purchse, ie: your house ?
Do you find this valuable?

Not sure, when you think about the leaky homes issue it seems there isn't a simple consumer guarantee act. In the leaky home situation the home owners thought they had a number of guarantees but found out the hard way they weren't. There are certain safeguards you can take though such as having a survey done, getting the building checked by a surveyor etc. One way if you are building a home is to contract a certified builder http://www.certified.co.nz/index.php/ps_pagename /homefirst Often in a purchase agreement there will be a clause - almost like a buyer beware clause - the onus (or responsibility) is on the purchaser often. Do you find this valuable?
