Hi, regarding the duration of a custody order:A custody order continues until you reach the age of 17 years. It will finish earlier if: the order is discharged by the Family Court; you get married; you are adopted by your foster parents or by someone else. You could also ask for the custody or guardianship order to be cancelled: -you or your lawyer can ask the Family Court to discharge (cancel) a custody order or guardianship order. Your parents or a close relative can also apply. Before the Court will discharge the order, it must be satisfied that the order is no longer in your best interests. You should ask your lawyer (counsel for the child) for information about this. If you have futher enquiries, please feel free to contact youthlaw on (09) 3096967 Do you find this valuable? |
