Police

When you have your first encounter with the police, it is not always easy. But DO remember that they are there to help you and the community. It is good to remember these things:

Be polite and respectful.
Stay calm and in control of your words, body language and emotions.
Don't get into an argument with the police.
Remember, anything you say or do can be used against you.
Keep your hands where the police can see them.
Don't run. Don't touch any police officer.
Don't resist even if you believe you are innocent.
Don't complain on the scene or tell the police they're wrong or that you're going to file a complaint.

Police are there to help. While most police follow the rules, occassionally young people are treated poorly. In these situations, the following may be helpful:

Remember officers' badge numbers or patrol car numbers.
Write down everything you remember ASAP.
Witnesses who support your version of events may be important. Their names & phone numbers will help.

wow this is a familiar scene yes good inquiry but remember Most Police officers are good (whatever this means) it seems that police force have become more military minded, & difficult to understand their circumstances especially when they can assert power (the badge is a classic symbol), the law (making it harder for youngsters & even adults to speak confidently) & least we forget the terror attacks in Tuhoe but like the authour said it is only a particular group who conform to this antagonistic behavior?
