Why do schools ask for donations? This is a featured page

Schools ask for donations to help with upgrading, paying staff, new buildings and so on. Sometimes schools use the money to get better sports gear, computers or more books for the library or better support and guidance for students.

Most students and their families expect a good standard of equipment and services at school. However, almost all schools say that the yearly funding they receive from the government (the “operational grant”) is only enough to deliver very basic schooling, and that collecting fees and donations allows them to offer a better service tostudents and their families the service they expect.
