Who does the Order cover?

Your child(ren) and any person in a domestic relationship with you may also be protected by including them in the Protection Order.

For the order to include someone you are in a domestic relationship with the court must be satisfied that:
  • The Respondent has behaved in a way that if they were, or had been in a domestic relationship with that person, the behaviour would amount to domestic violence.
  • The Respondent's behaviour is at least in part due to the Applicant's relationship with that person.
  • Any protection given by the order would be for the protection of that person.

Is there anyone else I can get protection from under the Protection Order?

Yes. The Protection Order can also protect you from other people that the Respondent has encouraged to be violent against you or your child(ren).

That person is called an "Associated Respondent".
