When can the Court find that I am in need of care and protection?This is a featured page

You can be found to be in need of care and protection if:
  • you have been harmed or abused (physically, emotionally or sexually);
  • you have been seriously neglected or deprived;
  • your parents cannot control you and you are harming yourself or others;
  • your parents have abandoned you or are unable or unwilling to care for you whether because of their health, mental problems, drug abuse or another reason;
  • if you are ten years or older and are committing numerous or serious offences.[17]
Your views are considered when the Court is deciding whether you are in need of care and protection.
