What say will I have in the plan? This is a featured page

You must be consulted when the care plan is being drawn up. After all, it is your life and your future that is being ‘planned’: your views are very important because you have to live with any decisions that are made about your future care.[43] That does not mean that you will always get what you want: the Court and Child, Youth and Family have a legal responsibility to act in your best interests. Sometimes what they believe is best for you will not be the same as what you want.

A social worker will discuss with you what they want to put in the care plan. You must be given a copy of the plan unless the Court orders that part or all of the plan not be shown to you
[44]. Your lawyer must be given a copy of the plan a day before the Court hearing and will discuss it with you.[45] If there is anything you do not agree with it is important that you tell your lawyer.

How long does the plan continue?

[43] s5(d) CYPF Act, Article 12 UNCROC
