What is Workplace Accident Insurance? This is a featured page

  • You are covered for any injury from an accident, gradual process, disease or infection that is work related. Your employer must pay premiums to the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). This funds your compensation for wages you have missed out on through a workplace injury. ACC is now the sole provider of workplace injury insurance in New Zealand.
  • If you are injured you can get some money towards the cost of your medical treatment and rehabilitation. You can also get at least 80% of your loss of pay for the time your doctor says you must be off work.
  • If you are injured you should immediately tell your supervisor and get medical treatment from a qualified treatment provider.
  • If your employer is pressuring you to be dishonest about an injury you can free phone the Employment Relations Service (0800 800 863) for help or you can report it to the ACC (0800 372 830).
