What are attendance dues? This is a featured page

Attendance dues are a compulsory fee for integrated schools only. They are a fixed amount per child at the school each year. The amount may be different from school to school and from year to year. However, the fee is agreed between the school and the Ministry of Education (MOE) and can’t be made higher without the MOE agreeing.

Attendance dues are used to help with fixing and improving school buildings and facilities. They can be used to pay for debts or mortgages that the school has on the land or buildings of the school. The school can’t use the money for anything else.

If you or your caregivers don’t pay attendance dues the school can suspend you and remove your name from the school roll or the school can refuse to enroll you the following year.

Remember that any other school fees at an integrated school (such as religious instruction or special character fees) are a voluntary donation.

Some schools will use the word “attendance dues” to cover donations that you don’t have to pay as well. If your caregivers want more information, they should ask for a detailed account to show exactly what they are paying for.
