SBI

This stands for “Severe Behaviour Initiative”. The service helps out when your behaviour is affecting your education and putting you or others at risk. Your school should make a referral. However, your caregivers can call your local Ministry of Education office if they want to find out about a referral (see What if I need more help” at the end of this information sheet).

RTLB

This stands for “Resource Teachers: Learning and Behaviour”. The RTLB scheme was set up under the Government’s Special Education 2000 policy to help students with low to moderate special needs. Usually the school will make a referral to the RTLB. Or your parents can contact the Ministry of Education if they want information about a referral (see What if I need more help” at the end of this information sheet).

SLI
This stands for “Speech Language Initiative” and provides individual help for children who have difficulties developing language patterns or speaking clearly.
