These include the right to be safe guarded against physical, sexual and emotional abuse, exploitation, torture, and unfair treatment in the criminal justice system. It also includes the right of refugee children to special care.

For example Article 19 puts an obligation on the Government to protect children from physical or mental violence, injury, abuse, neglect, maltreatment, or exploitation. This Article means, among other things, that corporal punishment is not allowed in schools. Your teacher is not allowed to hit you if you misbehave in class. The Convention also says in Article 28.2 discipline in schools shall be administered in a manner consistent with the child’s human dignity. This means your teacher cannot make you do something, which you find embarrassing, or makes your classmates laugh at you.
