I still want to have contact with my parents, grandparents or brothers and sistersThis is a featured page

Sometimes the custody order or guardianship order made when you were placed in care will say that you can have contact (access) with a parent, family member or some other person.
[73] Check whether the order gives rights of contact and check what your care plan says about contact. If the care order or care plan says contact is to be arranged, talk to your social worker and insist that the necessary arrangements are put in place for visits or regular phone contact.

Even if there is nothing in the court order or care plan you can talk to your social worker and your caregivers about arranging visits or phone or email contact.[74] Child, Youth and Family must encourage and facilitate contact with your family unless it is against your best interests.

If contact is being blocked you can apply to the Family Court to vary the custody or guardianship order to add a condition that you have access to your parent or family member. [75] Your lawyer (counsel for child) should help you with this.
