I'm young, can I be held to the contracts I make? This is a featured page

Once you turn 18: you are considered an adult when entering a contract and have no special consideration based on your age.

If you are under 18: you can'tbe held to a contract unlessa Court orDisputes Tribunal decides that the contract was fair and reasonable at the time you agreed to it. The Court or Tribunal would take into account your age and understanding/maturity, the circumstances under which you entered the contract, the amount of money or property involved and other relevant factors when deciding if the contract was 'fair and reasonable'.

If you are married: the same laws that apply to adults apply to you.

Life insurance contracts apply to you as an adult from the age of 16.

Contracts in which you enter into services (eg. where you are working for someone) are binding on you regardless of your age, unless the contract is harsh or oppressive or the payment or reward for your promise or actions under the contract is so low that it would be totally unreasonable to hold you to it.
