The Family Court can make both temporary and permanent (final) protection orders.


Temprorary protection orders
Last for up to 3 months unless the person you are wanting protection from is able to successfully defend the order.


Permanent protection orders
Temporary protection orders become permanent if they are not challenged within 3months of being made. If you want to remove it, you will need to go to the Family Court and apply to have it discharged.
