How can i apply for a protection order?This is a featured page

You can find applications for protection orders at your nearest Family Court. You dont need a lawyer but may want to get one to help you fill out the necessary paper work.

The Family Court can grant your application if it is satisfied that:

  • there is or has been domestic violence

  • you are or were in a domestic relationship with the person you want to be protected against (for more info on what a domestic relationship is refer to page on 'who can apply for a protection order' )
  • you need a protection order to protect you and any kids that might live with person you want to be protected against
The Criminal courts can also make protection orders in certain conditions.
