Can people treat me differently because I am in care? This is a featured page

People should not tease or bully you or say bad things about you because you are (or have been) in care.
[78] If this happens to you, you should tell your caregivers or your social worker immediately. People should not give out information about your personal situation or family background without your consent.[79] You have a right to privacy and information from your files should only be shared between social workers and your caregivers where it is in your best interests to do so.[80] If you are concerned that personal information about you is being given to people who are not entitled to the information, you can make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner.[81]

Ask your lawyer or YouthLaw about this.
