Can my school tell me what to wear if there is no uniform?This is a featured page

At all schools there can still be rules about students’ appearance even if there is no set uniform. For example, there could be rules about hairstyles or the style of clothing that you can wear at the school. However, these rules would have to take account of New Zealand laws. can a primary school set a rule (not passed by B.O.T) to say students must wear shorts and short sleeved tops for sport ?
they have no other uniform.
