Can I see my file? This is a featured page

Child, Youth and Family will have a file which has information about you and the reasons why you were taken into care. Some of the information may be on an electronic file and some on a paper file.

You are entitled to be given a copy of any personal information on your file and if any of the information is incorrect you can insist that it be corrected.[82]

If you are under 16 years, access to some information on your file may be refused because Child, Youth and Family thinks it is not in your interests to have that information.[83] If you are unhappy about being refused access to the information you can make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner. This is a matter your lawyer or YouthLaw can help you with.
