Can I be stood-down or suspended if I do something wrong? This is a featured page

Yes, you still have to obey school rules and can be punished if you don’t. But the punishment should be fair and take account of your disability. Before you are stood-down or suspended, the principal has to think carefully about whether your misbehavior is caused by your disability. For more information see our information sheets, “Kicked out of School” and “School Discipline”. If you are suspended there will be a meeting with the school Board of Trustees. It is important for the specialists supporting you to go to this meeting if they can. They can tell the Board how your disabilities affect you. If you go to a private school there will still be a meeting to talk about your behaviour and what can be done. The adults working with you should attend if they can.
