Assigned Counsel (Legal Aid)
You can apply at the Court’s criminal office for a Criminal Legal Aid form. The duty solicitor will help you complete the form. If you are on the benefit or are on a low income you may be granted criminal legal aid unless the case is minor (for example doesn’t carry a term of imprisonment). If there is any chance of imprisonment or periodic detention and you qualify financially you are likely to get legal aid. You can also refer to http://www.lsa.govt.nz/criminallegalaid.php for more information. If you are refused legal aid you can contact the Legal Services Agency for a review of that decision (see the reconsideration form attached to the back of this information sheet). If you are still refused aid, you can apply to the Legal Aid Review Panel.

i am look d=for a lawyer to help my son that was arrested for a robbery charge. my son has not been in trouble with the law and this would be his first time in juvenile hall and i am so scared for him and i just need someone to help me and my son out.my son is very good kid. he is a honor role student and is involved in sports and his education . my son is not a bad person and this not like him to do things like this. i guess since we moved away from our home town and moved to bigger city he is upset that we moved and he had so much happen in in his live that caused him to have depression. i just want someone to help me because i have no money to get him a lawyer and it's just him me and my daughter .please help me find a solution and a lawyer to help us out..thank you
