Most volunteers come to us through our Volunteering Programme. Volunteers assist us with answering our 0800 line, client interviewing, providing legal advice, typing filenotes, and providing a range administrative support. In return, our volunteers gain valuable experience in a legal organisation and make a direct contribution to helping children and young people across Aotearoa New Zealand. We have volunteer sessions each workday, 10am to 1pm and 1pm to 4pm. These are at our office in Papatoetoe. Most of those in our Volunteer Programme are law students in Part II and above, and this is a requirement if you wish to volunteer as a legal assistant volunteer. But if you can spare some time during the week, you have a passion for children’s and young people’s issues, and if you have experience or are studying in one the following areas then we’d welcome your application: community development, law, education, social science research, politics, or policy. To apply, download the volunteer questionnaire. Email the completed questionnaire, along with a CV, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Incomplete forms may not be considered. Be sure to check the the cut-off dates for the relevant intake you’d like to volunteer for.
